SYNOPSIS

Canadian born Carla lives in a manor at the heart of a small English village. She spends her time tending a large woodland plot containing unusual carvings. Her garden adjoins a cemetery - where she goes wandering at night.

Single parent Woody moves into an old gate lodge nearby with his teenage children and he begins renovating the property. He is too busy to work on his badly overgrown rubbish-filled garden which annoys his highly strung Canadian neighbour.

Carla a meticulous gardener suggests that Woody restores his ‘wilderness’ and although he shares her passion for horticulture, his priority is to make the building habitable. He just wants her to mind her own business.

Temperamental Carla has other problems as she believes that her house is haunted and she suffers vivid nightmares. Also, she suspects that her husband Michael is having an affair with local estate agent Vanessa. Woody finds out that this is true and sympathises with Carla because his wife deserted him many years ago and he never recovered.

When Carla’s husband is away she sees a ghostly toddler for the second time. She asks Woody to search the manor with her. He believes her fears are unfounded but learns more about her life. Over time they discover that they have much in common and he becomes attracted to her.

Later, Michael abandons his pregnant wife and before Carla goes off in search of him for closure, she shares a terrible secret with Woody.
