Two Dorset-based video projects have been undertaken by Artificial Owl and are near completion.

For over four years our cameras have captured the partial restoration and redevelopment of one of the south of England's loveliest attractions - Compton Acres.

The second project is the creation of a set of three instructional DVD's for local company Former Glory. 'A Beginner's Guide to Cane & Rush Seating' is already available at their web site, and two advanced guides to seat restoration will be available at the end of January 2008.

If you have a heritage project that you would like to preserve on DVD then please contact us. This could be anything from the salvaging of an antique vehicle, boat or motorbike to the restoration of an old building. We are interested!

As we are keen family historians we are about to launch a new service. If you could buy a DVD featuring your ancestors talking about their lives - would you? We certainly would but that is just not possible. However, one of us can visit you in your own home (or venue of your choice), to record your precious recollections for future generations.

This will be an informal service that can be illustrated with some of your favourite photographs or mementoes. The finished disc can then be distributed to friends or family or perhaps to local archivists for long-term preservation.

We would prefer to work on projects in Dorset as we are a local company for local people.
